What is PRINCE2?

PRINCE2 is structured project management method. The current, 7th version, has introduced some valuable updates, such as bringing the central attention back to the PEOPLE, and adding SUSTAINABILITY to the project parameters, with a dedicated Sustainability Management Approach.

But PRINCE2 has kept its solid foundation, still offering the crucial elements of project management:

• a model for project governance, with four levels of management and a clear suggestion for the project team composition
• a process model with a pre-project step, post-project step in which benefits are realised and measured, and a project life-cycle, with clear stages and stage gates, giving us the full control of the project progression
• a set of control mechanisms, with the stage gates, management by exception, when tolerances are exceeded, and well defined reporting on check points and on specific events.

All of that is based on a set of specific principles that give the right framework to our project work. From defining a clear business case for each and every project to tailoring PRINCE2 to our organisational needs.

PRINCE2 Foundation and Practitioner

PRINCE2 trainings are given at two levels. The first level gives the fundamentals the method, covering the whole of it without going into too much detail. It is perfectly enough to start using it in projects. The second level, preparing for the Practitioner exam, going deeper into the details of the method. It is the full PRINCE2 qualification. The client has the choice of giving time between the first or the second level, so as to let it settle and put it to use in their project. Second option is to complete the two levels within one week. We tend to suggest the first approach.

The exam is taken online a few days or weeks after the training, at the time of your choosing. The training comes with digital official training materials, and a full set of PRINCE2 document templates, registers and other useful project management tools.  

Learning and Development process and implementation support

We know from experience that just the PRINCE2 training is a starting point, and it is far from easy to transfer it from the training room to an organisation. We advise to work with a larger and complete process of learning and development, starting from a business need (key question in PRINCE2: WHY?), a project portfolio review, the PRINCE2 Foundation training, followed by implementation activities within the organisation, including the tailoring requirements, workshops, pilot projects, PRINCE2 Practitioner training, closing with an evaluation.
