Road to tech leadership

Introduction
This is a training for software developers who are interested in taking on a tech lead role.

Detailed description
This training, consisting of 2 half days, prepares senior developers for what they can expect from a tech lead role. The training is a combination of theory, group discussions, sharing experiences and discussing a number of cases provided by the participants).

Target audience
This training is suitable for everyone who wants to get started as a tech lead or already has some experience as a tech lead. Participants are expected to have at least a couple of years professional experience with software development.

Learning goals

The training will address the following learning goals:

• Leadership models, ways of leading & guiding a team
• The mental shift from maker to multiplier
• Stakeholder management
• Delegating work
• Resolving conflicts
• Making technical decisions
• QA & technical debt
• Forming a technical vision

Training outline

• Day 1 (4 hours): leadership (leadership models, delegating work, conflict management)
• Day 2 (4 hours): tech (making decision, QA, forming a technical vision)

About the trainer
Bert Jan is CTO at OpenValue and focuses on Java, Software architecture, Continuous Delivery and DevOps.
